Milo Yiannopoulos tried to join the furry subculture but it backfired spectacularly
The gay right-wing troll Milo Yiannopoulos attempted to win fans in the furry community by attending a Chicago convention, but furries had other ideas and banned him instead.
It emerged last week that the disgraced Breitbart editor is now ‘broke’ and unable “to put food on the table” after he was deplatformed from Twitter and Facebook for violating hate speech rules.
He complained that since becoming a “social media refugee” his following is “microscopic” – which could explain he seems to be reaching out for fans elsewhere.
He recently announced on the fringe app Telegram that he has now adopted a ‘fursona’ as a snow leopard and has purchased tickets to a Chicago furry convention, Midwest FurFest, in December.
According to Right Wing Watch, he requested to host a panel called “The Politics of Fur.” He asked his followers to message him to arrange “dinner, drinks, photos or anything else.”
Unfortunately for Yiannopoulos the response from the furry community was less than enthusiastic, and the convention faced countless calls to ban him from attending.
You have one job to do guys, ban him for the safety of all your attendees.
If you can’t ban this far right troll I’ll be refunding my registration
This is the easiest possible stand you’ll ever have to take as an organization

I’m not putting myself or those close to me at risk because some reactionary instigator wants to show up at your con

Y’all are pretty much gonna shut down your own con if you don’t take this individual’s possible attendance seriously. Safety should be your absolute priority, especially with how paranoid people already are.
Failing to recognize that will be your staff inviting hostility.

Arguments for banning him:
✅ You’d make attendees feel safer
✅ You’d be following Australia’s precedent
✅ He’s a self-described “provocateur”, would purposefully make trouble
✅ His fans have shot someone in the past
Arguments for allowing him:

In response to the uproar, convention officials issued a statement: “The board of Midwest Furry Fandom, consistent with our posted code of conduct, has rescinded Mr. Yiannopoulos’s registration. He is not welcome to attend this or any future Midwest FurFest event.”
Nice try, Milo.
The response didn’t sit well with Yiannopoulos, who allegedly contacted the FurFest press team threatening to come anyway, with “friends.”
But as you can expect, the internet was only too happy to see the self-described ‘pop star of hate’ be rejected by yet another community… and the puns just wrote themselves.

Milo Yiannopolous was trying to attend a furry convention to cause some shit. The con rescinded his badge and banned him.
You could say he was… fursona non grata.— Logan Rapp (@Loganchance) September 16, 2019
If you think Milo getting kicked out of a furry convention rules, wait until next month when he gets banned from a PTA meeting
