Caitlyn Jenner says Vanity Fair cover was ‘a big F you’ to critics in candid I’m a Celebrity chat

Caitlyn Jenner opened up to her I’m a Celebrity camp mates about her long road to living openly as a trans woman.
The Olympian and reality TV star has previously revealed that she began hormone therapy in the 1980s, but halted her transition when she met Kris Jenner, who she married in 1991.
Speaking with Jacqueline Jossa and Nadine Coyle during Sunday night’s I’m a Celebrity, she revealed that she grew “36B” breasts, but had them removed surgically.
“I’m so confused in my life,” she laughed.
“And then the second time round 25 years later I was back on oestrogen obviously and they came back but not much.
“So I really had to have them done so it is kind of past the point of no return.”

Talk soon turned to Jenner’s ground-breaking coming out.
Jenner announced herself to the world in 2015 on the cover of Vanity Fair, with the headline “Call me Caitlyn”.

“As soon as the cover of Vanity Fair broke, in the next 4 hours and one minute, it broke the world record for the fastest to 1 million followers on Twitter,” she recalled.
“Transitioning and trying to make an impact [on] social media is extraordinarily important.”
This was a big F you to the millions that had said terrible things about me.
Coyle told Jenner that she remembered exactly where she was when she first saw the cover, which was shot by Annie Leibovitz.
“It’s a big thing,” added Jossa.
Caitlyn agreed, saying: “For me this was a big F you to the millions and millions of people out there that had said terrible things about me.
“And it just came out and it just shocked them.”

Earlier in the week, Jenner spoke about how her famous family handled her transition.
She said that her children – including Kendall Jenner and Kylie Kenner – call her dad.
“Kendall asked me first and I said [call me] ‘dad, I’m your dad and I’ll always be your dad till the day I die’,” she explained.
“But what they’re really good at which shocks me all the time is when they’re talking about me, ‘My dad, she…’ and it’s tough to change the pronoun in the middle of it.
“Bruce raised them and Caitlyn is enjoying their life with them.”
Unfortunately, I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp host Joel Dommett has been less gracious in his use of gendered terms, referring to Caitlyn as a “guy” early on in the show’s run.
