Kevin Hart, who stepped down from hosting the Oscars over homophobic jokes, still really wants to host the Oscars
Kevin Hart said he wouldn’t be hosting the Oscars after the outrage his homophobic jokes sparked.
Kevin Hart, who chose not to host the Oscars when his historical homophobic jokes were exposed, has now changed his mind and wants to host them again.
Hart will feature in the new film Jumanji: The Next Level alongside Dwayne Johnson. At the premiere on Monday December 9, the pair were interviewed by Variety and Hart indicated that he was hoping the Academy Awards might have him back.
Asked whether he and Johnson would consider hosting together in 2020, Hart said: “Hey look, I have nothing but love for the Academy.
“I always will. I think that, you know, any conversation is always a good conversation. So, TBD. To be determined.”
While he was speaking, Johnson chimed in: “Get the tequila ready.”

At the end of last year, it emerged that Hart had called gay people “fags” and mocked lesbians in a series of historic social media posts, following an announcement that he would host the Oscars.
He also previously came under fire for anti-gay comments he made during his 2010 Seriously tour, during which he said: “One of my biggest fears is my son growing up and being gay. That’s a fear.”
The ‘comedian’ quit as the host of the 2019 Academy Awards, which took place in February, after organisers asked him to issue an apology for his historical anti-gay material. He then opted to publicly resign.
He wrote on Twitter at the time: “I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year’s Oscar’s….this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artist.
“I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.”
Last month, Hart announced that he would rake up the Oscars drama yet again in a documentary about himself.
The Netflix docuseries Don’t F**k This Up is set to be released at the end of December.
