If you’re desperately looking for a silver lining to lockdown, Tom Daley is doing shirtless home workouts
It’s been about 800 years since the world went into lockdown over the coronavirus, and everyone is very bored by now – including Tom Daley, apparently.
By now, you’re probably at the stage of self-isolation where you spend your days staring out the window and occasionally wonder if you should shower.
But there is no need to waste your time on such frivolities anymore, because gay Olympic diver Tom Daley has the perfect distraction in the form of shirtless home workouts.
So, if you want to trade looking out the window for some home-based exercise, Daley has the answers.
Tom Daley says people can feel ‘a bit down’ due to coronavirus and social distancing.
In his first home exercise video, posted two days ago, Daley said the world seems “a little bit scary” right now.
“Lots of people are self-isolating at home or social distancing, and sometimes you can run out of things to do and you can feel a bit down on yourself,” he said.
“Well, I’m hoping to do a series of home workouts that I’ve been doing to try and boost a little bit of morale and a little bit of spirit, because if you can just move a bit, even if you’re inside… if you can manage to do 10 minutes of movement and 10 minutes of exercise each day it’s going to make you feel so much better and give you more energy and hopefully a more positive outlook.”
The gay diver kick starts his day by doing a workout each morning.
Daley shared the workout video on Instagram and wrote: “I know these times are so surreal and social distancing can be really tough.”
He continued: “Mental health is something we all need to be really mindful of in these times, that is why I try to do a home workout each morning to kick start my day.
Lots of people are self-isolating at home or social distancing, and sometimes you can run out of things to do and you can feel a bit down on yourself.
He also urged people to save his workouts and share them with friends.
If you aren’t quite feeling up to doing Daley’s workouts, it’s perfectly acceptable to just watch the video and think about doing them instead.
