Little Mix ally Jade Thirlwall says she’s penned an ‘important’ song dedicated to the trans community

Little Mix member Jade Thirlwall revealed that she and a collaborator have written a song dedicated to the trans community.
Thirlwall told Gaydio that she and longtime collaborator Camille Purcell wrote the song as she feels a responsibility to the LGBT+ community.
“We wrote a song that me and Camille thought would be a great trans awareness song. We haven’t recorded it yet but I’m on the case,” Thirlwall said.
“It’s so important. We are always trying to raise awareness.”
Little Mix star wants to ‘walk the walk’ and represent queer fans.
She continued: “I think we have a duty to really, we’ve got such a massive LGBT+ fan base and I want to make sure that we practice what we preach and we are walking the walk instead of talking the talk.”
The news come after Little Mix released “Break Up Song” as the lead single from their upcoming sixth studio album.
The group have a huge LGBT+ following and Thirlwall has repeatedly pledged her allegiance to the queer community.
Jade Thirlwall is a trans ally.
Speaking to Glamour last week, Thirlwall said it’s essential for people to be LGBT+ allies, even in coronavirus lockdown.
“We’re all in self isolation and some LGBT+ people might be in a home or a family environment where they’re not very supportive of being who they are,” she said.
“So, if you know anybody who is in that circumstance, reach out to them, message them, show them how much you support and love them – there’s many ways you can be doing that whilst being indoors.”
If you’re going to say you’re an ally, you need to practice what you preach.
Thirlwall also said she’s “still learning” how to be an ally to trans people, how to use people’s pronouns and how to “practice what you preach”.
“I’m still learning what the right pronouns are or how to speak to someone and make sure you don’t offend someone or be an ally in the right way and making sure it doesn’t look like you are using to your advantage or for your benefit.
“If you’re going to say you’re an ally, you need to practice what you preach, you need to walk the walk as well as talking the talk. So yeah, still learning every day.”
