Jewish-owned golf course vandalised with ‘sickening’ Nazi swastikas, homophobic slurs and an ugly penis

Police in Australia have launched an investigation after bigoted vandals plastered a Jewish-owned golf course with with Nazi swastikas and a homophobic slur.
Staff and members arriving at the Cranbourne Golf Club in Victoria on the morning of May 21 were shocked by the ugly scene before them.
The fourth green had been extensively damaged by vandals spray painting directly onto the grass. Accompanying the huge Nazi symbols were the words “Golf fags” and a crude drawing of a penis.
The club on Melbourne’s south-eastern outskirts was founded in 1953 by Jewish golfers for minority groups banned and discriminated against by other clubs.
Witnesses reported the “disgusting” and “cowardly” graffiti to Australia’s Anti-Defamation Commission. The group’s chairman Dvir Abramovich condemned it as yet “another sickening” attack.
“Another day, another sickening and chilling incident of swastika vandalism, and if this hate spree continues, Melbourne will soon be known as the swastika capital of Australia,” he said in a statement.
“This is not just graffiti on the ground – it is an attack on all of us, and I never I thought I’d say this, but this is becoming the norm.”
He called on the Victoria state government to organise a roundtable to find measures to “fight against this toxic bigotry”.

The golf club reopened to its 815 members last week after Victoria eased coronavirus lockdown restrictions. It has now had to close the damaged section of the course while the graffiti is removed, which has been a difficult process, said the club’s manager Cameron Mott.
“It’s frustrating, ignorant behaviour,” he told the Daily Mail Australia, urging the vandals to “have more respect for others.”
