Gay YouTuber Lohanthony ‘denounces’ his sexuality in favour of ‘Christian celibacy’ after finding Jesus
Gay YouTuber Lohanthony has announced that he is denouncing his sexuality to practice “Christian celibacy”, and fans are concerned.
The 21-year-old YouTuber, real name Anthony Quintal, found internet fame as a sassy, swear-y, proudly gay teenager, but his latest video was in stark contrast to his previous persona.
Lohanthony posted a video titled “Jesus delivers – surviving sexuality” on Friday, 21 August, in which he discussed “sexuality and [his] call to Christian celibacy”.

He revealed in the video that that he had struggled with alcohol and drug dependency but was now sober, and that he had been sexually abused as a young child by an “older boy”.
The YouTuber then went on to say that this experience “wounded” him so badly that he began a “decade-long search for gay love that would ultimately end with disappointment… a void, which was later filled by Jesus Christ”.
He added: “It’s no coincidence that through pursuing my same-sex attraction, I was also addicted to alcohol, I was also addicted to weed, I was also trying hallucinogenics, I was also addicted to money, I was addicted to views, I was addicted to attention.”

Lohanthony’s repeated use of the phrase “same-sex attraction” and his promotion of the idea that his sexual orientation was linked to childhood trauma and addiction has fans concerned that the YouTuber may have become the victim of Christian conversion therapy.
One Twitter user wrote: “This Lohanthony situation is horrifying I hope he’s OK. Watching this video is seriously making me feel sick.”
Another said: “I’m so concerned for Lohanthony.
“It sounds like he’s blaming himself for getting molested as a child. It sounds like he’s blaming getting molested as to why he’s gay.
“This is concerning as f**k. I don’t care that he’s Christian because I want him to live his life but this is concerning.”

Although Lohanthony insisted in his YouTube video that he is “not here to condemn anyone, not here to say what is sinful and what isn’t sinful, not here to judge anyone”, fans are worried about the harmful messages he is promoting.
One person wrote: “Lohanthony becoming a devout Christian was all cool until he started linking homosexuality to a consequence of sexual abuse.”
