Drag Race UK producers finally give an update on season two after filming was stopped due to coronavirus

Drag Race UK producers are “regrouping” and hope to finish recording the second season before the end of the year.
The UK spin-off of RuPaul’s hugely successful drag contest debuted its first season to acclaim from fans last year – but production on the second season was shut down earlier this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
But producers are hoping to recommence production on season two of Drag Race UK soon, with plans to wrap filming by the end of the year.
BBC Three controller Fiona Campbell confirmed that production on season two will recommence soon during a panel event for the virtual Edinburgh TV Festival, according to Radio Times.
Producers on Drag Race UK hope to finish filming the second season by the end of 2020.
When asked if season two of Drag Race UK had been interrupted because of the pandemic, Campbell said: “Yes that’s true, midway through filming it was interrupted, and it’s currently being regrouped, as we say.”
Campbell said there are plans in place to kickstart production again.
“I think the best thing I can say is hopefully if we all stay well and stable in the UK like we are now, we’ll get it done by the end of the year.
“But yeah, it’s regrouping as we speak.”
Filming on the second season of Drag Race UK was abruptly stopped in March as coronavirus began its rapid spread throughout Europe.
Production was abruptly halted in March.
“In light of the spread of COVID-19, after much consideration, production on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK will be temporarily pausing filming both in consultation with and supported by the BBC,” a spokesperson for the broadcaster announced at the time.

“We will continue to review all productions on a case by case basis and will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the foreign office, World Health Organisation and Public Health England.”
The second season was originally expected to air towards the end of this year before the pandemic.
A new air-date has not yet been announced by BBC Three.
