Kristen Stewart teases her ‘gay Christmas rom-com’ that’s coming to make all your queer wishes come true
Kristen Stewart and Clea DuVall have teased Happiest Season, their long-awaited lesbian Christmas rom-com, with a series of first-look images.
Happiest Season stars Stewart and Mackenzie Davis as a lesbian couple dealing with the stress of a conservative family during the holiday season.
Abby (Stewart) plans to propose to Harper (Davis) at a family’s Christmas party, but soon discovers that her partner has not actually come out to her conservative parents.
The festive rom-com was co-written and directed by Clea DuVall, best known for The Faculty and for the 1999 cult lesbian film But I’m a Cheerleader.
DuVall told People, which exclusively revealed the first pictures of the film: “I’m a huge fan of Christmas movies, but I had never seen my story represented.
“Happiest Season felt like a great opportunity to tell a universal story from a new perspective.”

Stewart added: “I think I’ve wished to see a gay Christmas rom-com my whole life. I’m so happy and proud of Clea for bringing this into the world.”
“I love when holiday movie makes you long for an idea of home,” the actor added, “but also examines how hilarious and hard reality at home can be sometimes.”
Instantly, fans were desperate for more.

Filming for Happiest Season began in January this year, and wrapped in February, shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic.
DuVall said: “Maybe I’m biased, but this was one of the most fun sets I have ever been on.
“From the cast to the crew, everyone showed up each day with an excitement and energy that made every day a joy.”
Stewart agreed: “We couldn’t have had a better more loving pack of weirdos supporting each other on this one. Had an absolute blast.”
The all-star cast also includes Mary Steenburgen, Victor Garber, Alison Brie, Aubrey Plaza, Dan Levy and Mary Holland, DuVall’s co-writer.
Happiest Season will hit cinemas on November 25 in the US and November 27 in the UK.
