Madonna has showed off her “beautiful” hip scar from the injury that curtailed her Madame X tour in December 2019.
The singer, aged 62, cut her tour short due to the “horrendous” pain of her hip injury, before speaking in March about undergoing regenerative treatment for missing cartilage.
In an Instagram Story post on Sunday (20 December), the “Vogue” icon shared a photo of the scar from the treatment, using the hashtags #recovery and #beautifulscar.
Her legs were also covered in marks from cupping, a pseudoscientific intervention that practitioners claim can decreased inflammation and increase blood flow.
Madonna was ‘left in tears’ by pain from injuries.
The singer opened up about her injury on Christmas Day 2019, revealing she was left in tears during a part of her Madame X show that required her to climb a ladder.
She wrote: “As I climbed the ladder to sing “Batuka” On Saturday night in Miami I was in tears from the pain of my injuries, which has been indescribable for the past few days
“With every song I sang, I said a prayer that I would make it to the next and get thru the show. My prayers were answered, and I made it.
“I consider myself a warrior. I never quit, I never give in, I never give up!! However this time I have to listen to my body and accept that my pain is a warning.”
Madonna was forced to cancel a stream of tour dates over her injuries
She added: “I want to say how deeply sorry I am to all my fan for having to cancel my last show.
“I spent the last two days with doctors, scans, ultra sounds, X-rays, poking and probing and more tears.
“They have made it very clear to me that if I’m to continue my tour — I must rest for as long as possible so that I don’t inflict further and Irreversible damage to my body.
“I have never let an injury stop me from performing but this time I have to accept that there is no shame in being human and having to press the pause button.”
Madame X tour was killed off after cancellations and COVID-19.
After a plague of delays and cancellations caused by her injuries, the last few dates of Madonna’s Madame X tour were cancelled in March due to COVID-19.
“If only knees didn’t twist and cartilage didn’t tear and nothing hurt and tears never fell out of our eyes,” she wrote on Instagram. “But alas they do and thank God for this important reminder that we are human.”
