Ann Summers boss insists trans people are ‘absolutely welcome’ at ’empowering’ sales parties

Ann Summers boss Jacqueline Gold has said trans people are “absolutely welcome” at the company’s “empowering” sales parties.

Gold, who inherited the Ann Summers empire from her father, famously transformed the company when she launched the Ann Summers Party Plan in 1981, which gave women the chance to buy sex toys and lingerie in their own homes.

Now, the business mogul has insisted that trans people are more than welcome at their famous home parties.

Gold told The Times: “We would absolutely welcome transgender [people], we want to support them. We want to empower them.”

She continued: “We want to make them feel comfortable. Our changing rooms are open to transgender [people].”

Ann Summers CEO Jacqueline Gold praised trans model Talulah-Eve.

Gold went on to heap praise on transgender model Talulah-Eve, who fronted an Ann Summers’ Christmas campaign in 2020 after rising to fame on Britain’s Next Top Model.

“It’s been fantastic getting to know her. I go to the campaign filming, I love to meet the models,” she said.

Talulah-Eve praised the company in November, telling OK! that she was proud to be involved in a campaign that celebrated “all women”.

Being a part of a brand that empowers women and represents all women is such an honour.

“Ann Summers is such an iconic brand that has changed how people perceive women and their sexuality and how women express sexuality,” she said at the time.

“Being a part of a brand that empowers women and represents all women is such an honour.

“And as a trans woman you know it is kind of ground breaking because it’s never been done before with the brand and it’s an amazing step forward for the trans community because it’s shining a light on us, it’s raising awareness and it’s showing that trans women can do what any other women do as well.”
