Dancing on Ice star Lady Leshurr opens up about pansexuality: ‘I’m open to everything’

Lady Leshurr narrowly escaped being eliminated from Dancing On Ice this weekend.

If there were any justice in the world, the dictionary entry for “multi-talented” would just be a picture of rapper, singer-songwriter and all-round legend Lady Leshurr, particularly after the way the triple-threat music producer – who is pansexual – performed on Dancing On Ice at the weekend.

Lady Leshurr had previously nailed a fantastically choreographed routine to “Salute” by Little Mix with her dancing partner Brendyn Hatfield during last week’s launch show, but they rather unfairly ended up in the bottom two, and had to skate-off last night (24 January) against Myleene Klass in order to continue in the competition, which this year also features Jason Donovan and Rebekah Vardy.

To say the internet was outraged at Lady Leshurr and Brendyn’s low ranking would be a bit of an understatement, although it’s hardly surprising, as none of us have anything else to do at the moment other than watch TV and then go on Twitter to complain about things.

One person got political, writing: “You were by far the best!! Same people voting are the same people who voted Brexit.”

After the skate-off to Demi Lovato’s “Confident”, judges John Barrowman, Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean unanimously chose to keep Lady Leshurr and her skating partner Brendyn Hadfield in the competition. Thank goodness, because we’ve already had “ROBBED” trending on Twitter once this month.

The pansexual icon (and, now talented ice dancer) recently opened up about who she’d like to skate with on the show in an ideal world, citing both Cara Delevingne and Denise Van Outen, two women who rarely share a sentence.

She told The Sun: “I’ve watched Denise Van Outen as I was growing up and I’ve always thought she was beautiful. She’s like the girl-next-door, with the blonde hair and blue eyes.

“I grew up in a white neighbourhood. I was around blonde-haired, blue-eyed girls and I always thought it was attractive.

“It’s what you’re used to seeing — even Barbie and stuff like that, that was the dream girl.

“I’d never draw the line at anyone. I’m open to everything and I’m spontaneous. That’s why I’m pansexual — because I love experimenting.

“And if I connect with somebody and they happen to be, say, in their 40s, I wouldn’t mind that. I’m only in my 30s.”

Speaking about Cara Delevingne, she said: “Cara would be amazing to dance with because of her energy and her personality, and she’s got those eyebrows so she’d just be able to serve those looks to the camera and towards the judges. We’d automatically get through.

“I remember the first time I saw her was in a pizza shop in Los Angeles.

“She was behind the counter making her own pizza with Kendall Jenner and then she disappeared out the back door. That’s LA for you.

“But the first time we actually met, we just clicked and kept in touch ever since. She’s such an honest and lovely girl. She’s gorgeous.”

Let’s hope Cara sees this and shows up next week.

You can watch Dancing On Ice on Sundays at 6pm on ITV.
