Love Island star Megan Barton-Hanson wants fans to experiment with their sexuality ‘at least once’
Bisexual Love Island star Megan Barton-Hanson urged fans to experiment with their sexuality in a revealing Instagram live.
A curious fan asked Barton-Hanson the age-old question: “Is sex better with a woman?”
The reality star responded: “I think it depends like who you’re having sex with. Sex can be bad for anyone or it can be amazing if you’re both on the same level. But yeah, I’d definitely experience it once in your life.”
She captioned the response: “Def[initely] try it.”
Megan Barton-Hanson appeared on Love Island in 2018, finishing in fourth place with her then-boyfriend Wes Nelson. The couple split shortly after the show ended.
In 2019, Barton-Hanson came out publicly as bisexual, telling The Sun she had “deeper connections” with women. She said she believed the reason she was overlooked for the 2017 series was her bisexuality, which “put [the producers] off”.
She has since dated TOWIE star Demi Sims and footballer Chelcee Grimes.
Megan Barton-Hanson previously opened up to Sims on her podcast You Come First about experiencing “mortifying” homophobia from her brother’s girlfriend when she first began dating women. She asked Barton-Hanson if she was a “big fat lesbian” minutes before her first date with a woman.
Barton-Hanson also recently confirmed she would “definitely” return to Love Island if there was a “gay season”.
In the interview with The Cambridge Union, she added: “Logistically, I don’t know how it’d work if they just chucked a few token gay people in there. I think we need a whole gay series.
“If you’re going to do it, do it properly! I’d definitely go back on there if there’s a gay season!”
Barton-Hanson also appeared in Celebs Go Dating in 2019, and slammed the show for its lack of representation: “Producers now will pick one bisexual girl who will be chucked on a show, be with a girl for a minute, get with a guy and then that’s it done.”
She said she is “so passionate” about positive bisexual representation in television, adding: “There’s not enough, whether it’s Celebs Go Dating, Love Island or any of those shows. I feel like they just do the bare minimum.”
Megan Barton-Hanson will appear on the new series of MTV’s Ex on the Beach, due to start filming in Columbia this month.
A source told The Sun: “The show is all about scandal and confrontation and Megan is outspoken and feisty, so producers were pleased to sign her – she makes great telly.”
