Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Stephanie Beatriz is expecting her first child: ‘I’m excited to take our kid to Pride someday’

Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Stephanie Beatriz has announced that she’s pregnant with her first child.
The bisexual actor confirmed on Wednesday (2 June) that she’s expanding her “chosen family” with fellow actor Brad Hoss, whom she married in 2018.
Beatriz, who plays detective Rosa Diaz on the long-running comedy series, shared the happy news with a stunning pregnancy photoshoot for People.
“We’re really excited we’re going to be growing our family and I am pumped,” she told the magazine.
She posted a photo from the exclusive shoot on Instagram, a picture of herself cradling her baby bump while her husband looks lovingly at her.
“Mom and Dad (for real tho),” read the caption with several Pride hashtags.

Beatriz revealed that, for a long time, she couldn’t see herself settling down and having children.
“I didn’t think that a committed partnership was really for me. I couldn’t really see kids,” she said. “It wasn’t that I was closed off to it. It was more that I couldn’t quite see how a baby fit into the life that I was building.”
That all changed when she met Hoss. Now, she and her husband are committed to raising a child who understands the importance of equality.
“I think one of the best things you can do is raise a kid who understands that however a person chooses to shape their one glorious life is worthy of celebration,” she said.
Beatriz, who came out as bi in college, reminded readers that that her marriage doesn’t mean she’s “any less queer… I was able to be my fullest, most authentic self around Brad. He’s extremely empathetic and open,” she explained.
She continued: “I’m excited to take our kid to Pride someday. I am so excited for our kid to experience all of the love that our extended friend group are ready to shower on this kid.
“Many of our friends identify as LGBTQIA so I’m just really thrilled that we’re going to add another person to the world that is going to be ready to embrace everyone with open arms and stand up for everybody’s rights every step of the way.”
