Yes, Billions is finally coming back: and so is trailblazing non-binary actor Asia Kate Dillion

Non-binary actor Asia Kate Dillon will return to their role in part two of season five of Billions.

Non-binary star of Billions, Asia Kate Dillon, is returning to their historic role for the show’s fifth season.

The remaining episodes of season five of the popular hedge fund drama will finally premiere this September.

Dillon, who plays Taylor Amber Mason, made history as the first-ever non-binary lead character in a US TV drama.

The first seven episodes of season five aired from May 2020, as they were filmed before production was forced to shutdown due to the pandemic.

Fans will now get the chance to see the rest of season five, with five episodes coming to our screens soon.

The first of those will premiere on 5 September via streaming service Showtime in the US and on 8 September via Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.

The plot for the continued season of Billions reads: “Bobby Axelrod and Chuck Rhodes have been unscrupulous adversaries and underhanded allies, but nothing has prepared them for the ruthless machinations of billionaire Mike Prince.

“He will use everything – and everyone – at his disposal to come out on top and as alliances get ripped apart and new enemies rise, everyone gets roped into the conflict and consequences be damned.”

The series also stars Paul Giamatti, Damian Lewis, Corey Stoll, Condola Rashād and Maggie Siff alongside Dillon and you can watch the intense trailer below.

Showtime boss Gary Levine also gave an update on the future of the series, according to Variety he said, “we shot some of season six ahead of some of the episodes of season five.”

So this means viewers might not have too wait too long for season six, as it sounds like filming is well underway.

“We felt guilty for the audience to have to wait as long as they did to see the rest of season five. And so we and the producers just kind of put our heads down and said just plow ahead,” he added.

Billions is one of a number of LGBT-inclusive shows on streaming service Showtime. To find out more and to sign up head to showtime.com. It comes with a 30-day free trial and then costs $10.99 per month.

Billions star Asia Kate Dillon on gendered award categories

Dillon has also used their platform to start a conversation with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences with the aim to promote non-gendered acting categories at award ceremonies.

They said it’s “discriminatory to separate people based on either their identity or their assigned sex at birth,” in an interview with Newsweek in 2020.

They went on to add that “the possibility certainly exists” for award shows to have non-gendered categories and they’re “excited to continue to rip that Band-aid off and have that conversation with anyone who is in charge.”
