Britney Spears has paid an odd tribute to her boyfriend Sam Asghari.

The singer shared a photo of herself and Asghari – who she started dating in 2016 – on Instagram on Wednesday (25 August), telling fans just how much he means to her.

In a heartwarming post, Britney Spears heaped praise on Sam Asghari for being there for her during a difficult period.

“Not only has this cute asshole been with me through the hardest years of my life but he happens to be an extremely good cook,” Spears wrote, alongside an emoji of a chef.

She added: “Fast & Furious franchise, don’t miss out on your next star,” apparently urging directors to consider her boyfriend for acting gigs.

Spears’ latest Instagram post comes amid an unusually vocal period for the singer. Her social media posts were once cryptic and sporadic, but in recent weeks, the singer has shared more and more glimpses into her personal life with fans.

From topless photos to videos of herself dancing, Spears has covered various topics in her posts – and she has started opening up with more regularity about her court-ordered conservatorship and issues with her family.

Britney Spears wants to get married to Sam Asghari

The singer was famously placed under the complex legal arrangement in 2008 following a mental health crisis. The conservatorship has allowed her father, Jamie Spears, to exercise significant control over her finances and personal life for more than a decade.

Britney Spears had generally remained quiet on the realities of living under a conservatorship, but she spectacularly broke her silence during a June court appearance.

Speaking to a Los Angeles court, Spears characterised her conservatorship as “abusive”, claiming she had been denied the right to marry Sam Asghari and start a family with him.

“I’ve told the world I’m happy and OK, I lied,” Spears said. “I am not happy, I can’t sleep. I’m so angry, it’s insane, and I’m depressed.

“I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I’m traumatised.”

The singer also expressed her desire that her conservatorship be terminated, adding that she doesn’t want to have to undergo a medical evaluation in order to be granted independence.

“It is my wish and dream for all of this to end,” she added. “I want my life back.”

The singer also hit out at her court-appointed counsel, Samuel Ingham III, claiming: “I didn’t know I could petition the conservatorship to be ended. I’m sorry for my ignorance, but I honestly didn’t know that.

“My attorney says I can’t – it’s not good, I can’t let the public know anything they did to me.

“He told me I should keep it to myself, really.”

Britney’s father has agreed to step down as conservator

Those dramatic claims led to Ingham resigning from Britney Spears’ case, which paved the way for the singer to petition the court for the right to appoint her own legal counsel for the first time – a right that was initially denied when the conservatorship was put in place.

Shortly afterwards, the court permitted Spears to appoint Mathew Rosengart, a Hollywood legal powerhouse and former federal prosecutor, as her lawyer.

He later promised to fight “aggressively” to have Spears’ father removed from her conservatorship. The singer’s estranged father has since agreed to step down as conservator – however, a clear timeline has not yet been given on when he will exit the arrangement.

Meanwhile, Spears has begun using Instagram as her weapon of choice in speaking her truth. In July, she used the platform to criticise her family – and specifically her sister Jamie Lynn Spears – saying her “so-called support system” hurt her “deeply”.

Spears – who has not released new music since her 2016 album Glory – has said she won’t be performing “on any stages” as long as her father has a role in her conservatorship.
