Tucker Carlson targets trans men in unhinged abortion rant riddled with falsities
Fox News host Tucker Carlson has once again spouted his anti-LGBT+ views on air, and this time he’s targeted pro-abortion advocates and transgender people.
On a Thursday (2 September) instalment of his Fox News show, Carlson discussed Texas’ stringent anti-abortion law, which prohibits an abortion past six weeks of pregnancy in the state. According to the BBC, the law empowers any private citizen to sue anyone involved in providing or facilitating an abortion past this six-week point in Texas.
Tucker mentioned a recent press conference where a male reporter questioned White House press secretary Jen Psaki about the president’s stance on abortion. Psaki said president Joe Biden believes it is “up to a woman to make those decisions”.
She ended her comments to the male reporter by saying: “I know you’ve never faced those choices, nor have you ever been pregnant.”
In his show, Tucker declared that Psaki forgot to “update” her “talking points” before he launched into a vile rant about trans people by proclaiming abortion is no longer a women’s issue because “men get pregnant now”.
“She should know that men can get pregnant now,” Carlson said. “The science people tell us that every day.”
He added: “It’s on the cover of magazines. I think it’s on the cover of People magazine right now, a dude who’s pregnant.”
“Now what does that mean?” Carlson said. “It means that abortion is now a men’s issue.”
He continued: “Men are child bearers. So men, dudes, have an equal right to choose to terminate their pregnancies, and they have a right to weigh in on the policy itself.
“It’s not a women’s issue anymore, Jen Psaki.”
Transgender men, non-binary people and gender non-conforming individuals can conceive and carry children. However, given Tucker Carlson’s long history of anti-LGBT+ comments, it’s unlikely that he was suggesting that trans men and LGBT+ individuals should have an active say in the abortion debate and policies around reproductive issues.
As Newsweek pointed out, Carlson is mistaken in believing that a pregnant man is on the cover of this week’s People magazine. Instead, the outlet said the cover features Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
People did share exclusive images online of Lil Nas X pregnant with his debut album, Montero. The musician donned a baby bump, flower crown and flowing robes in an elaborate pregnancy shoot for his “baby” album.

The 22-year-old Grammy Award-winning artist told People that he was inspired to do the shoot after a chance phone call with his stylist. He said his stylist called his album his “baby” before jokingly suggesting he should do a pregnancy shoot.
“I was like ‘You know what? That’s actually brilliant’,” Nas recalled. “So now we have this entire thing coming out, and it’s going to be amazing.”
It’s unclear from Tucker Carlson’s segment if he was directly referring to the images from Lil Nas X’s photoshoot and if he believed they were actually the current cover of People.
