All the highlights from the PlayStation Showcase 2021 including God of War: Ragnarok and Wolverine
Finally! Having mostly missed E3 and Gamescom with a standalone show, Sony finally showed up with a PlayStation Showcase of their own. It was worth the wait.
With a first look at God of War: Ragnarok, announcements for new Marvel Games, plus some surprises, this showcase was a strong showing for PlayStation.
Admittedly, a lot of these games are a long way off yet. But there’s much to look forward to.
God of War: Ragnarok first footage
This is what we were all waiting for. And yes, it’s more of the same. But it sure looks impressive. Following on directly from the previous game, Atreus is no longer a “boy”, more an argumentative teen as he and Kratos seek to learn more about his place in the run up to Ragnarok. It will be the conclusion of the Norse part of the saga so expect to meet the likes of Thor, Odin and Freya in this spectacular looking adventure.
Knights of the Old Republic Remake coming to PS5
For many Star Wars fans, BioWare’s Knights of the Old Republic is the best game based on the franchise. Now it’s getting a complete remake from the ground up for PS5. No footage yet, but this is a game to be very, very excited about.

Spider-Man 2 is in the works, obviously
After the success of both Spider-Man and Miles Morales, it’s no surprise that a full sequel is on the way. Not until 2023 though. Still, the trailer suggests both Peter Parker and Miles Morales will be included and they’ll be facing up against the one and only Venom. It’s going to be a long wait.
Wolverine will claw his way to PlayStation
Not content with one Marvel game, Insomniac are also developing Wolverine. A tease of an American dive bar and his iconic claws was all we got, but it hints at a mature take on the character.
Nathan Drake will be remastered
If you can’t get enough of Daddy Drake, then look forward to a remaster of Uncharted 4 coming next year to PS5 and PC. Better yet, the side story The Lost Legacy is coming too, featuring the fierce Chloe Frazer. If you missed out before, now there’s no excuse.
Nothing else looks like Ghostwire Tokyo
The most unique looking game shown, Ghostwire Tokyo is a Japanese urban horror like nothing else. A surreal collision of fantasy and reality. Terrifying enemy designs. Supernatural powers. It’s going to be a truly frightening experience and we can’t wait for next year.
A new fierce fighter
Bayonetta fans are still eagerly awaiting news on the third game in that series, but Project Eve could well satiate that appetite. Futuristic Bayonetta with aliens is a fair description of the trailer for this brand new title, with its sexy protagonist, bizarre enemy designs and frantic combat. Whether Eve can out-sass our favourite witch remains to be seen.
New Forspoken story details
First teased at Sony’s PlayStation Showcase a year ago, a new trailer finally gave us a deeper look at the story of Forspoken, arriving Spring 2022. Protagonist Frey is ripped from our world into the strange but beautiful fantasy land of Athia, complete with a talking wrist cuff of course. Most impressive is the magically enhanced parkour as she fluidly leaps, glides and swings across stunning landscapes, before battling dragons using incredible powers.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will please Borderlands fans
This spin-off from the Borderlands series promises “metal and magic”, which about sums up the new trailer. It’s a medieval fantasy world but with outlandish guns, promising the same visual flair and brazen humour of Borderlands. It’s out on 25 March 2022.

Alan Wake comes to PlayStation for the first time
Teased earlier in the week, a remaster of Alan Wake arrives on PlayStation consoles on 5 October, bringing the haunting adventure to PlayStation consoles for the first time after it launched on the Xbox 360. Remedy are fresh off the high of Control, so now PS owners can experience their earlier work for themselves.
The shiniest of cars in Gran Turismo 7
If you’re into customising very shiny looking cars then there’s plenty to look forward to in Gran Turismo 7. This new outing, due next year, really will earn the moniker “Real Driving Simulator”.
