Marvel star Hayley Atwell to voice Lara Croft in Tomb Raider anime on Netflix
Hayley Atwell will voice Lara Croft in a new Tomb Raider anime on Netflix.
The anime, previously announced, will be a collaboration between Netflix and Lionsgate Entertainment.
Few details are known, but it will continue the storyline from the most recent Tomb Raider trilogy, meaning Atwell will play a slightly older version of the character originated by Camilla Luddington in the games.
It’s also a separate interpretation of the character played by Alicia Vikander in the live action films.
The release date is currently unknown.

Atwell is best known for playing Agent Peggy Carter in Marvel’s Captain America movies, as well as more recently in the animated series What If…?.
She’s also performed extensively on TV and on stage, earning Golden Globe and Olivier Award nominations.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Tomb Raider series that launched the iconic Lara Croft to superstardom.
The new anime was announced as part of the celebration, which also included the release of Tomb Raider: Definitive Survivor Trilogy (a collection of the recent games), Lara appearing in Fortnite, and of course a Tomb Raider cookbook.
However, no news yet on whether any new games are in production.
The Tomb Raider anime will follow on from other Netflix video game adaptations.
Most recently that was the feature length animated film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf in addition to the main The Witcher series starring Henry Cavill. There’s also the Castlevania anime that has set the precedent for gaming anime on the streaming service.
Netflix are also looking to add gaming to their subscription service, in a move set to rival Apple Arcade, though this won’t be added until 2022 at least.
