Trans developer’s skateboarding game is like Tony Hawk’s but much, much cuter
SkateBIRD, the new game from trans developer Glass Bottom Games, is out now.
The much-anticipated game has been in development for three years, but is now available across Steam, Itch, Switch, Amazon Luna and Xbox – including Game Pass.
The wholesome game, as the title suggests, is about a skateboarding bird and is a much cuter version of the popular Tony Hawk’s Skateboarding games.

The game was previously featured at the Wholesome Direct in June, where its simple and accessible controls were shown off.
Choosing simplified controls means the game can be played with fewer inputs, as shown in this video.
No matter how you control, your tiny little bird will chirp, ollie and kickflip their way across mini skate parks made of straws, staplers, cardboard and sticky tape.
“You may be tiny, but the more you skate, the more friends you’ll make,” explains the Steam page.
“Birds will come check out your park, help you find more parks, and together you’ll (somehow) fix Big Friend’s life! Above all else, skate birds try their best.”
Trans developer Megan Fox has created SkateBIRD almost single handedly, with funding on Kickstarter and Patreon.
A demo for the game is also included in the Super Rare Mixtape Vol 1 collection of projects from diverse indie developers.
