Strictly Come Dancing’s Johannes Radebe moved to tears over historic John Whaite partnership

Strictly Johannes Radebe moved to tears over John Whaite partnership

Strictly Come Dancing professional Johannes Radebe was moved to tears when talking about how much his partnership with Great British Bake Off star John Whaite meant to him.

The pair, who have made history as the show’s first ever all-male duo, were interviewed by host Claudia Winkleman after learning they had survived another elimination and would be going through to Halloween Week.

Responding to Winkleman’s suggestion that as the weeks go on the duo’s success means more and more to him, Radebe admitted through tears: “It really, really does. I can’t tell you how happy I am with this partnership – thank you very much.”

Whaite helped to break the ice, joking about his Strictly partner’s teary eyes: “We need a towel for his face!”

Radebe and Whaite are proving to be a hit with not just viewers at home but also with the show’s judges as they were the first pair to achieve 39 points in this series.

Bake Off star Whaite seemed to be enjoying the experience as much as his professional partner, telling Winkleman: “If I could bottle up that feeling when you’re on that dance floor – not even sell it, give it to everyone – a little drop every morning behind each ear and on the belly button…

“You’d just feel happy and confident! The confidence that comes out down there…” Whaite elaborated before stopping to tell his partner off again for his high emotions, exclaiming: “Stop crying!”

Whaite recently squashed any rumours that he and Radebe could fall victim to the notorious Strictly curse, explaining to The Sun there is simply no attraction between the two men.

There is no attraction because you see sweat and everything,” he revealed.

Last year, boxer Nicola Adams made history by competing in Strictly’s first ever same-sex pairing with professional dancer Katya Jones. Unfortunately the duo’s journey ended prematurely as they were forced to withdraw from the competition after they both tested positive for COVID-19.
