Strictly Come Dancing turns queer energy up to 11 with fierce, fiery tango: ‘Goosebumps galore!’
Strictly Come Dancing may have aired its queerest episode yet, with a fiery tango from Johannes Radebe and John Whaite, and an incredible performance from Years and Years.
Radebe and Whaite were the last pair of the night to perform, but they floored judges and viewers alike with their intense Argentine Tango.
The performance almost earned them 10s across the board, aside from a nine from judge Craig Revel-Horwood, taking them through to next week’s quarter finals.
The passion, the style, the intensity. John and Johannes' Argentine Tango was actual 🔥flames🔥 #Strictly @jojo_radebe pic.twitter.com/u6p3dcx8PN

Fans described the incredible performance as “steamy”, “fierce” and “powerful”, and Whaite, who won the third series of the Great British Bake Off, was even surprised with a message from Mary Berry herself.
She told him: “Now John, I knew that you were a star baker but gosh you’ve done brilliantly on Strictly!
“I’m very, very proud of you and good luck in the rest of the competition.”
BBC presenter Jack Murley wrote on Twitter: “Crikey. When I was a kid, the closest we got to gay representation on TV was Todd Grimshaw giving Nick a peck on the lips in Corrie.
“Now, we’ve got Mary Berry congratulating John and Johannes on a tango so raunchy it blew the back off my telly. Progress, folks.”

The Strictly Come Dancing episode featured a Years and Years performance with another same-sex dance
But the episode saw even more queer Strictly Come Dancing joy, with a performance from Years and Years, live from the ballroom.
Olly Alexander sang “Sweet Talker” was even accompanied by a same-sex dance between Strictly pros Karen Hauer and Luba Mushtuk.

Bravo Strictly! Same sex duets are now a regular prime-time feature of the show. Not only from John and Johannes but in the pro dances too! Wish I’d seen that on TV when I was a kid #Inspiring @bbcstrictly #Stictly https://t.co/4Ifz6zKX2n— Matthew Bourne 💙 (@SirMattBourne) November 28, 2021
Sharing a clip of the performance, director and choreographer Matthew Bourne wrote on Twitter: “Bravo Strictly! Same-sex duets are now a regular primetime feature of the show.
