Her post was liked almost half a million times, and other celebrities praised Taylor and Paulson’s iconic queer, age-gap relationship.
Selma Blair commented: “Happy birthday Holland Taylor. I am so comforted and inspired by the love shared by two incredible women. Oh my heart. So much love.”
Leslie Jordan added: “Awwwww… gives me hope!”
Holland Taylor and Sarah Paulson met in 2005
The two actors reportedly met in 2005 at a dinner party, but didn’t start dating until a decade later, in 2015.
However, Sarah Paulson later told the New York Times that when she first set eyes on Taylor, she thought she was was “probably the most exquisitely beautiful woman I’d ever seen”.
The couple have made great strides in normalising queer age-gap relationships, but still receive criticism.
Paulson previously told The Guardian: “For me, that seems to be the predominant interest in my relationship with Holland, what would be perceived by some as the strangeness of it, or the unlikelihood of it. I think people are fascinated by it, because it’s so not typical.
“Except for if you look around at plenty of well-known or recognisable couples, when they’re heterosexual couples, it just runs rampant, and I don’t see anybody becoming obsessed by those relationships.”
Hitting back at their critics, Paulson said in 2018: “If anyone wants to spend any time thinking I’m strange for loving the most spectacular person on the planet, then that’s their problem. I’m doing just fine.”
