In 2022 there are some amazing comedy tours to catch across the UK and Ireland.

A night of live comedy is what many people need to lift their spirits after coronavirus restrictions halted live events.

Luckily there’s plenty of big name comics heading out on tours this year that you can get tickets for.

This includes LGBT+ talents like Hannah Gadsby, Alan Carr and Joe Lycett and standup favourites with Katherine Ryan and Bill Bailey touring in 2022.

Below we’ve put together a list of 16 comedy tours taking place throughout 2022 and how to get tickets.

Joe Lycett

Our favourite pansexual comedian will visit 34 venues with his new stand-up show, More, More, More! How Do You Lycett? How Do You Lycett? between March and September next year. He will headline some of his biggest shows to date, including two final nights at London’s Wembley Arena.

Comedian-turned-Drag Race UK judge Alan Carr will continue his Regional Trinket tour in early 2022, with 75 dates planned across the UK and Ireland. Fans can expect his usual self-deprecating humour, quick one liners and pop culture references, from everything to Adele and RuPaul.

Drag Race icon Trixie Mattel is bringing her brand new show, Grown Up to venues across the UK in 2022. The full length theatre tour will feature a four-piece band, live music and of course, stand-up comedy from the All Stars 3 winner.

Simon Amstell

Simon Amstell has added extra dats to his Spirit Hole Tour.

Due to high demand, Simon Amstell has added additional dates to his Spirit Hole tour for 2022. It’s described as a “blissful, spiritual, sensational exploration of love, sex, shame, mushrooms and more”.

Hannah Gadsby will bring her Body of Work tour to the UK in 2022. She announced extra dates due to demand, writing on Twitter: “EUROPE AND UK! I will not choose sides. You are both my friends. I’m bringing my new show…BODY OF WORK…on a cheeky tour on both sides of the ex divide.”

Julian Clary

Julian Clary will continue his Born to Mince tour in 2022. Described as an “outrageously camp show”, the comedian will bare his soul as never before, murder some well known songs and read a preview from his next memoir A Night At the Lubricant.

David Sedaris

When: 10 July to 1 August

Tickets: Ticketmaster

David Sedaris has been sharing his witty personal essays for decades, observantly writing about life’s moments, big and small. His autobiographical and self-deprecating humour covers his sexuality, family life, middle-class upbringing, drug use and obsessive behaviours.

He’ll bring his latest ‘An Evening With’ show to venues across the UK in 2022.

Katherine Ryan

Katherine Ryan is touring the UK in 2022 with her Missus Tour. She’ll headline more than 40 dates between January and May, with a tour inspired by her newly married status, having previously been determinedly single. It also takes place following the release of her Netflix sitcom The Duchess, which she wrote and starred in.

Bill Bailey

Following his triumphant win on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020, Bill Bailey announced a headline UK tour entitled, En Route to Normal. Following an arena tour in January 2022 he will take the show to smaller venues across the country throughout April and May.

Josh Widdicombe’s new tour Bit Much… kicks off in February 2022. After some postponing, the star of Channel 4’s The Last Leg will resume his standup show, which includes a headline date at the London Palladium.

Dara Ó Briain

Dara Ó Briain is touring across 2022 with his show So…Where Were We?. The Mock the Week presenter returns to the stage with “no intention of stopping, bring a huge, brand new (and aptly named) tour up and down the country as he gets back to his usual sidesplitting mischief”.

Romesh Ranganathan

Ranganathan returned with a brand new stand-up show, The Cynic’s Mixtape, in September 2019. He was touring the show until 2020’s coronavirus outbreak, but now he’ll resume the tour with more than 40 rescheduled dates planned for 2022.

Sarah Millican

When: 26 March to 13 December

Sarah Millican is continuing her Bobby Dazzler tour in 2022. The comedian says she spent much of 2020 in lockdown writing jokes and as a result “got a bigger backside and the new standup show”. Fans can catch her in cities across the UK and Ireland, including a handful of arena dates.

Rhod Gilbert

When: 12 January to 5 May

Due to demand, Welsh comedian Rhod Gilbert has extended his latest tour into 2022, with more than 30 dates in total. He says: “Right, my Book Of John tour isn’t going to do itself, so it’s time I got back out on the road.”

“Seeing as most of the shows that were postponed are already sold out, I’m sticking in a load of extra UK dates,” he adds.

Chris Ramsey

Chris Ramsey is returning to the stage with his brand new show 20/20. A number of dates have been rescheduled due to the pandemic, and he will now headline more than 50 shows in the UK and Ireland throughout next year. Plus he’s also touring alongside his wife and podcast co-host on the Shagged, Married, Annoyed live tour.
