Donald Trump Jr thinks LGBT-inclusive teachers who ‘say gay’ are trying to ‘groom’ kids
Donald Trump Jr claimed LGBT+ teachers are “camouflaging” themselves to “indoctrinate” kids in an unhinged rant about Florida’s ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law.
In a video posted to social media, Trump Jr ranted about opponents of the legislation, which bans the discussion of LGBT+ topics in schools, and insisted that LGBT+ teachers could be spotted by the colour of their hair.
He said: “Until we do something about it, give parents the ability to do something about it, it’s over for our kids, for their future, for their education, OK?”
‘Don’t Say Gay’, signed into law by Florida governor Ron DeSantis last month, explicitly bans the discussion of LGBT+ topics in classrooms from kindergarten to third grade, and bans those same topics from fourth grade onwards if these topics are not “age-appropriate” or “developmentally appropriate”.
But Trump Jr said that LGBT+ lives should not be discussed with children of any age, saying: “There is no need to get into this level of detail of sexuality with young kids, there’s probably not a need to get into this level with much older kids who can actually understand it.”
Junior is back, and ranting about opponents of FL’s ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law: “You’re trying to indoctrinate and groom these children .. Let kids be kids. Let kids have their innocence. Don’t jam this stuff down impressionable minds!” pic.twitter.com/qwgu0V0UoU

He continued: “Honestly, the only reason I can think of is that you’re literally trying to indoctrinate and groom these children.
“Who is hiring these people? I guess, at least they’re easy to pick out and spot for the most part. But you never know, some may go under a camouflage, and not have blue, green, purple hair.
“But this stuff is insane… At least you can find them and see for yourself, but we need to do whatever we can to give parents the ability to pull their kids away from this nonsense.
“Let kids be kids. Let kids have their innocence. Don’t jam this stuff down impressionable minds, because you’re trying to break up traditional family structures, or whatever other reason it may be. But it doesn’t seem like it’s a wholesome reason to me.
“Just my opinion. I’ll probably get cancelled for it.”
The bizarre rant prompted some strong reactions on social media.
One Twitter user wrote: “Donald Trump Jr, hun, you were canceled so long ago you forgot about it… You are certifiably unhinged. Just. Like. Daddy.”
Another asked: “Do these people even know what is in the lesson plans for K-3 students? Because it sure sounds like they are making s**t up.”
Teachers in Florida previously told PinkNews that legislators were, in fact, creating a “solution in search of a problem” with ‘Don’t Say Gay’.
As the bill was making its way through the legislature, Michael Woods, a gay man who has been a special education teacher in Florida for 29 years, said he was “surprised because I know the curriculum intimately”.
He said: “I know what we do and do not teach in grades K through three, and none of the stuff that that the bill addresses was being taught, or was even approved to be taught.
“This bill was a solution in search of a problem… It’s a political move to gain favour rather than really determining what was in the best interest of Florida students.”
