Virgin Atlantic searching for UK’s next drag icon to perform with Drag Race legends in Pride Month

Drag queens, kings and everyone in between have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to perform alongside two Drag Race legends at San Francisco Pride.
Virgin Atlantic and San Francisco Travel Association have launched a competition in search of the UK’s next iconic drag star.
The winning drag performer will be accompanied by Drag Race UK stars Kitty Scott-Clause and Vanity Milan on the trip of a lifetime to San Francisco during Pride Month to perform a set an an iconic LGBTQ+ venue.
The competition is open to sickening queens, kings and drag performers from right across the rainbow who truly champion individuality.
To be in with a chance of winning, entrants need to record themselves performing Virgin Atlantic’s cabin crew safety demonstration with a twist and fresh eyes.
In addition, hopeful performers need to share their compelling story about why they deserve to be selected as UK’s next iconic drag star and perform for fans across the pond at San Francisco’s iconic drag and cabaret bar OASIS.
The winning drag superstar will fly upper class with Virgin Atlantic from London Heathrow to San Francisco on 9 June where they will experience a royal three-night stay at the city’s Hilton Union Square. On the trip, they will create engaging content showcasing their travel experience and drag performance alongside Kitty Scott-Clause and Vanity Milan.

“Travel is one of the greatest joys in life, but only if everybody can be themselves,” explained Juha Jarvinen, chief commercial officer for Virgin Atlantic, explained. “That’s why we’re thrilled to be able to partner with San Fransisco Travel Association for San Francisco Pride Month and champion the rich individuality of the UK’s drag scene.
“San Fransisco is an incredible city that embraces diversity and matches our ethos that everybody should be able to take over the world – no matter who they are.”
Joe D’Alessandro, president of the San Francisco Travel Association, added that San Francisco is obviously steeped in LGBTQ+ history, which is why the city was chosen for the competition.
Described as the “gay capital of the world”, the area is known for its many LGBTQ+ venues and nightclubs, its large gay population in The Castro District, and civil rights leader Harvey Milk, the first openly gay politician in the United States.
“San Francisco is where the rainbow flag, the global symbol of Pride, was born, and the AIDS Memorial Quilt was conceived,” D’Alessandro said. “We’re excited to welcome visitors back to a vibrant city where everyone is welcome and where boldness is rewarded.”
