Disgraced ex-Tory MP Imran Ahmad Khan jailed for sexually assaulting teen boy

Disgraced ex-Tory MP Imran Ahmad Khan has been sentenced to 18 months behind bars after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a teen boy.
In April, Southwark Crown Court heard that Khan, 48, forced the teenager to drink alcohol, dragged him upstairs and asked him to watch pornography before assaulting him in January 2008.
The complainant, now aged 29 and who cannot be named for legal reasons, said the attack at a Staffordshire house party left him “scared, vulnerable, numb, shocked and surprised”.
The jury in Southwark also heard how Khan touched the boy’s feet and legs before coming within a “hair’s breadth” of his genitals as he tried to sleep in a bunkbed.
Khan was found guilty by a jury after five hours of deliberations and was immediately suspended by the Conservative Party. He later resigned as MP for Wakefield and was sentenced Monday (23 May) by Mr Justice Baker.
“The only regret you feel is towards yourself for having found yourself in the predicament you face as a result of your actions some 14 years ago,” said Mr Justice Baker, according to the Metro.
The victim said he contacted the Conservative Party back in 2019 to tell them of the historic assault after finding out Imran Ahmad Khan would be standing in the general election. He then contacted the police after Khan was elected as an MP.
At the time of the assault, the police were allegedly called, but the complainant chose not to pursue the case.
The BBC reported that, in evidence, the victim described how Khan began “slow caressing” him and continued despite being asked to stop.
He added: “His breathing was getting quite heavy and I kept pushing his hand away and pushing it back and it would keep coming.”
Another witness described being sexually assaulted at a party in Pakistan in 2010, alleging that he woke up to find Khan performing a sex act on him.
Imran Ahmad Khan was named the UK’s first out gay Muslim MP in 2019 after it was reported he had applied to use the LGBT+ Conservatives Candidates’ Fund during his election campaign.
However, he denied he was gay and that the fund had been made in his name “in error”.
It was only during his sexual assault trial that he admitted he was in fact gay, The Guardian reported.
