Olympian Nicola Adams and partner Ella Baig welcome first child: ‘Baby Adams has arrived!’
Olympic boxer Nicola Adams and her girlfriend Ella Baig have announced the birth of their first child.
The pair, who announced they were expecting a baby in February, announced that they had “welcomed [their] son into the world” on Saturday morning (9 July). They have yet to announce a name.
Showing off a photo of the baby’s feet, as well as a hospital photo of herself and Baig, Adams wrote on Twitter: “We are so excited to announce to the world that baby Adams has arrived.
“The first moment we laid eyes on you we felt an instant love and the strongest bond.
“We went to the moon and back to get you and we can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives watching you grow.”
In a statement, Adams added: “We are so excited to have welcomed our son into the world on Saturday morning at around 7am.”

Nicola Adams, the first openly LGBTQ+ person to win an Olympic boxing gold medal, explained that before welcoming their child, the couple endured two miscarriages and a tough IVF journey.
Speaking about their fertility journey to Vogue, Adams explained: “We decided that Ella would carry the baby, that we’d use my egg, and find a sperm donor that resembled Ella.
“The main hurdle was not knowing as much about IVF as we do now – about the tests that needed to be done and the things to look out for which can affect the pregnancy.”
She added about the couple’s tragic miscarriages: “Of course, we knew that there was a chance of it being unsuccessful, but it’s hard to see those two lines on a pregnancy test and feel elated before having that ripped from you just a few weeks later.
“I was also more upset for Ella as she was the one going through the process physically. You don’t really know what to say or do – you just have to be supportive.”
As well as breaking records as an athlete, Nicola Adams also made history as part of the first same-sex couple on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020.
