Viewers react to RuPaul’s new game show Celebrity Lingo: ‘Can we keep RuPaul?’

RuPaul’s new ITV game show, Celebrity Lingo, premiered last night – and fans reactions are… divided.

It was announced in May that RuPaul – drag queen superstar turned TV empire mogul – would be taking over hosting duties of Lingo for this special celeb version from comedian Adil Ray.

The “fast-paced wordplay game” sees celebrity couples battle it out in various linguistic challenges to win money for their chosen charities.

The series had its first episode last night, and let’s just say some fans liked it more than others.

“rupaul hosting lingo is such a bizarre concept,” one tweeted, while another said: “so we’re flicking through what’s on tv to find something to watch WHY IS RUPAUL HOSTING CELEBRITY LINGO ????????”

Others were more positive about the change, writing: “I thought RuPaul was a great addition personally!” and: “This was so much better than our daytime version which is dull and boring, bring RuPaul to do ours please”

Many fans were quick to point out that while RuPaul is a supermodel of the world, his (lack of) knowledge of British trivia was an unintentional highlight of the show.

Twitter user @bella__mela even made this (hilarious) dig at RuPaul and his alleged fracking ranch.

Safe to say, whether they liked the show or not, fans were having a good time watching along.

One viewer even called the drag superstar a “bald bloke with a high voice”, to which @theplanetbeau clapped back: “*Correction! – Just a multiple Emmy award winning bald bloke with a high voice and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”

You can’t say fairer than that.

RuPaul hosts the remainder of the series, airing on Sundays at 6.30pm, on ITV.
