First trailer for Harry Styles’ gay drama My Policeman is here – and the verdict is in
The long-awaited trailer for Harry Styles’ queer romantic drama My Policeman is here.
My Policeman, based on the novel of the same name by Bethan Roberts, follows a policeman who marries a schoolteacher in the 1950s despite already being in a passionate affair with another man.
It’s set at a tie when same-sex relationships were illegal, and stars Emma Corrin as Styles’ wife, along with Rupert Everett, Patrick Hazlewood, and Linus Roache.
The trailer shows tender moments of romance, several same-sex kisses, and a glimpse at the film’s main actors set to the song “Sea of Love” by Cat Power.
“I am so so impressed, all of the actors shine even in this small clip, it’s going to be amazing, I’m emotional right now,” one Twitter fan said.
Another said: “You’ll have to pick me up piece by piece and drag me out of the theater.”

Harry Styles has previously stressed that he wants My Policeman to show audiences that gay sex can be “tender and loving”.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Styles said the film is “about love and about wasted time to me” and not just “a gay story about these guys being gay”.
He added: “So much of gay sex in film is two guys going at it, and it kind of removes the tenderness from it.
“There will be, I would imagine, some people who watch it who were very much alive during this time when it was illegal to be gay, and [director Michael Grandage] wanted to show that it’s tender and loving and sensitive.”
He also addressed allegations that he was “queerbaiting” his fans by refusing to talk about his own sexuality, saying: “I don’t think I’ve publicly been with anyone.
“If someone takes a picture of you with someone, it doesn’t mean you’re choosing to have a public relationship or something.
“I’ve never talked about my life away from work publicly and found that it’s benefited me positively.”
Styles added of My Policeman: “I think everyone, including myself, has your own journey with figuring out sexuality and getting more comfortable with it.”
My Policeman will be released in selected cinemas on 21 October, and will stream on Amazon Prime Video from 4 November.
