The best – and worst – dressed stars at the Emmys 2022: From Zendaya to RuPaul
The Emmys red carpet had some clear winners.
It was a night that saw history being made and several icons finally getting their flowers.
During the three-hour Emmy Awards, Zendaya became the youngest double-winner, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Jennifer Coolidge won their first Emmys at 66 and 61 respectively, and Lizzo found herself half-way to an EGOT.
But enough about the awards – lets talk about the fashions.
There were winners, there were losers, there were jaw-dropping moments and a couple of head-scratchers. Here’s our pick of the best and worst dressed of the Emmys.
Zendaya
Like Rihanna and the Met Gala, Zendaya is fast becoming the indisputable queen of the Emmys red carpet.
The Euphoria star wore a dramatic black Valentino gown, with bow belt and pockets, that was dripping with old Hollywood glamour.

Sarah Paulson
American Horror Story’s Sarah Paulson walked the Emmys red carpet in a custom two-piece Louis Vuitton look – a square cropped top and a ruched skirt with peplum waist.
It was already a serve, but arriving with partner Holland Taylor on her arm made it a moment.
The pair were spotted mouthing “you look beautiful” to each other, and Paulson beamed to reporters: “I’m here with Holland, my partner, whom I love.”
RuPaul
RuPaul in drag? Glamour, elegance, oppulence. RuPaul out of drag? Well, we’re sure it takes a lot of fracking money to look that cheap.
Laverne Cox
Laverne paid homage to Madonna, wearing a dress from Olivier Rousteing’s Jean Paul Gaultier couture collection. One of one, number one, the only one. No notes.
Lizzo
Lizzo won her first Emmy, made a serious bid for best dressed of the night, and possibly made herstory as the first person to twerk in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture.

Colman Domingo
Effort: 10/10. Execution: 3/10
Murray Bartlett
Hardly ambitious, but he sure scrubs up well.
Sandra Oh
Sandra Oh? In a purple sequinned, caped jumpsuit (by Rodarte)? On the Emmys red carpet? It’s the stuff queer dreams are made of.
Sydney Sweeney
As a wise old drag queen once said, meh.
Quinta Brunson
The star and creator of Abbott Elementary made her Emmys red carpet debut in Dolce & Gabbana, which is a shame. But there’s no denying she looks gorgeous, problematic designers aside.
