Jameela Jamil expertly shuts down transphobic pronoun trolls on Twitter

She-Hulk actress Jameela Jamil has shut down transphobic trolls on Twitter in the best way after they mocked the actress for removing her pronouns from her bio.
Jamil, a long-time LGBTQ+ ally, had reworked her Twitter account while She-Hulk episodes were releasing online, so it appeared to be run by her character – super-powered, social-media obsessed Titania – from the Marvel series.
In doing this, she’d also removed the ‘she/her’ pronouns from her name and bio; something trolls picked up on.
A Twitter user, whose feed is almost entirely made up of anti-trans content, tweeted: “Only just noticed Jameela Jamil no longer has pronouns in either display name or bio” alongside three laughing/crying emojis and three ‘OK’ hand signal emojis, to which Jamill has expertly clapped back.
Clarifying why she removed her pronouns in the first place, she wrote: “I had temporarily made my account a Titania account while my show was on, so removed my personal info.”

The original account continued her thread, claiming Jamil only put the pronouns back because of her tweet.

Clarifying that this wasn’t the case, Jamil wrote: “Also… no offense, but a few thousand likes isn’t ‘viral.'”
To shut the whole thing down, Jameela Jamil then dubbed the original poster: “Karenheit 9/11.”
The actress often engages in debates on Twitter, most recently about backlash to the She-Hulk series. She highlighted the benefits of engaging with critics, but emphasised that some viewers had been unnecessarily nasty about the show.
The series, which feature a group of incels as antagonists, has been regularly review-bombed by Marvel fans who continue to be furious at the existence of any female-led Marvel project.
The first female-led film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was 2019’s Captain Marvel, its 21st movie.
Since then, Black Widow, WandaVision, Ms Marvel and She-Hulk have bought the total up to five female-led Marvel projects, of the many movies and TV shows Marvel and Disney have produced over the past decade.

Jameela Jamil has been a longstanding and vocal activist for the LGBTQ+ community, coming out as queer herself in 2020.
She is also a fierce trans ally, issuing messages of support and standing up to Boris Johnson over alleged plans to ban trans women from single-sex bathrooms.
She is also a judge alongside Megan Thee Stallion and actress Keke Palmer on HBO’s Legendary, a reality TV voguing competition which centres around the world of queer ball culture.
