Leslie Jordan shared his excitement at buying his first home weeks before his death, in a video that has left fans heartbroken.

The veteran actor and gay icon, known for his roles in Will and Grace and American Horror Story, died after crashing his car on Monday (24 October) following a medical emergency. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

As tributes pour in for the beloved star, fans have begun sharing a video he made only 10 weeks ago celebrating purchasing his first home aged 67.

The video, shot in his new condo in East Side, shows Leslie Jordan with a beaming smile, saying: “67 years old and I have my first condo.”
He then bursts out into The Jeffersons theme tune, singing: “Moving on up to the East Side, to a deluxe apartment in the sky. Moving on up to the East Side, I finally got a piece of the pie!”

Alongside his video, he also posted the Instagram caption: “It’s never too late to be happy, y’all. I really did it. I bought my first piece of …………. property.”

In his final weeks, Leslie Jordan kept followers updated on his condo shenanigans, posting a video a few weeks later of him tap dancing.

“Well now I know why Fred Astaire was so thin,” he said, adding in the caption: “Hate to be the people living below me in my new condo building.”
Seeing Leslie Jordan so happy in his final weeks was moving for many.

“Wow, this is heartbreaking. Life is so damn fragile. Count your blessings and tell you loved ones they matter because life is short,” one person wrote.

Another added: “He spent his last morning looking out that window thinking about how happy he was to be there. Death is devastating, but his last morning was good.”

“My heart,” someone else wrote, “I’m glad Leslie was able to accomplish this, have this happiness, even though I hate that he didn’t the chance to truly enjoy it.”

Before his unexpected death Jordan was working on many ongoing projects, and in one of his final Instagram posts, shared himself singing a hymn with songwriter Danny Myrick.

In his caption he wrote: “Danny helped me with a new original song that should be comin’ out real soon.”

Danny went on to post a touching tribute to Jordan, saying “he navigated society’s most negative waves with grace and purity.”

Although it is not clear if we will ever get to hear the completed original song, Jordan’s Instagram confirmed that: “In the coming days we will be giving a glimpse of a project Leslie was really proud of and was looking forward to sharing with the world.”
