Mel B teases long-overdue Spice Girls reunion at Glastonbury 2023
Mel B has fuelled rumours of a Spice Girls reunion at Glastonbury Festival 2023, as acts begin to be announced.
Fans have long been speculating since 2021 that the Spice Girls could soon be playing the legendary festival, after Mel B to have the inside scoop on it being cancelled that year.
This week, Mel B heightened the rumours that the iconic girl band could get back together for the first time in a decade, after they last performed at the 2012 London Olympics.
Appearing on Friday’s episode (2 December) of The Big Narstie Show on Channel 4, Mel B described James Cordon as one of the “biggest d**kheads in showbiz”, before being asked by Big Narstie: “If you do Glastonbury can I be the hype man?”
“Yeah, I would like that,” responded Mel B, AKA Scary Spice. “That would be cool.”
The show’s co-host Mo Gilligan chimed in: “So you are playing Glastonbury?”
Laughing, Mel B said: “Yes, I think so! But I’ve got to convince the four b***hes to do it with me!”
Gilligan pressed on: “So the Spice Girls are playing Glastonbury?” But Mel B said: “Stop it, stop it! I never said that!”
Mel B sparked rumours of a Spice Girls reunion on the same day as the very first Glastonbury 2023 headliner was announced: Sir Elton John.
John, 75, embarked on his 350 date farewell tour, Farewell Yellow Brick Road in 2018, and next year’s Glastonbury Festival will be his last-ever show.
The pop star will be performing on Sunday, 25 June and said in a statement: “There is no more fitting way to say goodbye to my British fans.
“I can’t wait to embrace the spirit of the greatest festival in the world. It’s going to be incredibly emotional.”
Tickets for the festival went on sale last month, selling out completely within an hour.
