Timothée Chalamet flashes bum in Troye Sivan ‘gay famous’ SNL parody
Timothée Chalamet sent Saturday Night Live viewers into a gay panic with the help of musical guest stars Boygenius by dressing up as Troye Sivan.
The Wonka actor took on hosting duties on Saturday night (11 November) and slayed the house down with a deliciously silly Troye Sivan sketch, alongside cast members Bowen Yang and Sarah Sherman.
In the sketch, Sherman plays a worried hospital patient who tells her doctor that she suffers from sleep paralysis in which she’s haunted by a mysterious figure. When her doctor, played by Yang, uses a new form of therapy to bring about the sleep paralysis figure while the patient is still awake, it’s revealed that this woman is haunted by Troye Sivan – specifically Sivan in the music video for his hit single “Got Me Started”.
“I’m an Australian YouTube twink turned indie-pop star and model turned HBO actor Troye Sivan, being played by an American actor who can’t do an Australian accent,” announces Chalamet when the disoriented patient confronts her demon.
Chalamet, dressed in a white tank top and large blue baggy trousers, breaks into the “Got Me Started” choreography multiple times throughout the sketch, much to the horror of the hospital patient.
As any Troye stan will know, that choreography involves the Aussie musician turning around and pulling his trousers down to reveal his red boxer briefs. So when Chalamet obliged the SNL studio audience naturally went wild.
After the doctor concludes that she is the “fourth woman [he has] seen this week who is suffering from Troye Sivan dancing as her sleep demon”, thanks to the “Rush” singer “sneaking his way into the mainstream.”
“But isn’t he kind of famous?” asks Sherman, to which Yang lashes out: “He’s gay-famous, it’s different!”
As if Chalamet pulling his pants down in the style of Sivan wasn’t enough to send fans into a tizzy, Chalamet then summons three more Troye Sivans – played by Boygenius members Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker.
“Let’s give this straight woman what she wants,” says Dacus.
Baker responds: “Our tiny little red undies.”
The screaming from the studio audience only gets louder as all four “Troye Sivans” – joined by Yang – break out into the “Got Me Started” choreography once more, before turning around and wiggling their red undies.
It was truly like something out of a gay fever dream – and Sivan himself agrees.
Taking to TikTok on Sunday morning (12 November) the “One Of Your Girls” singer told followers: “The only way that I can describe this is, it’s like a weird f***ing dream. I’m like, okay, Timothée Chalamet was in my dream, but he was me and he was wearing my clothes…”
Those who caught the sketch on Saturday night were just as shocked as Sivan and took to social media to unpack what had just unfolded before their eyes.
“Timothée Chalamet and Boygenius dressed as Troye Sivan dancing and pulling their pants down none of these words are in the bible,” tweeted one viewer.
“Now if you had told me a month ago I would get Timothée Chalamet and Boygenius dressed as Troye Sivan doing the just got me started dance …….” wrote a second.
And a third, still trying to make sense of what they had just seen, added: “My brain still hasn’t accepted this as something that really happened yet like what do u mean that is Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, Lucy Dacus, & Timothée Chalamet dressed as Troye Sivan dancing and pulling their pants down.”
Now, that’s good television.
