Queer is an umbrella term for a wide range of non-heterosexual and non-cisgender identities. Historically used as an insult, the term queer has been reclaimed as an empowering term used by a wide range of people. Queer can also be used to describe alternative relationship communities, such as polyamory, kink, or non-monogamy.
