Quinto said: “Living and working in London has long been an aspiration of mine. But to be making my West End debut in such a thrilling and relevant play amongst such a distinguished creative team far exceeds my expectations of what living and working in London would look like
He also adds that “playing such a scorching and complex character as Gore Vidal” makes him “full of gratitude and excitement”.
“Best of Enemies harkens back to a vital time – when genuine discourse was possible from even the most opposite ends of the ideological spectrum. My hope is that such discourse may be once again rekindled in response to the work itself,” he says.
Zachary Quinto will star alongside David Harewood, who will reprise his role of William F. Buckley Jr. from the Young Vic Theatre run.
The play is set in 1968 as Gore Vidal and William F. Buckley Jr. fight to become the next President, which changes the political landscape forever.
The pair “feud nightly in a new television format, debating the moral landscape of a shattered nation”.
“Little do they know they’re about to open up a new frontier in American politics, and transform television news forever,” the plot reads.
Quinto has previously starred in the award-winning The Boys in the Band on Broadway alongside Matt Bomer, Jim Parsons and Andrew Rannells, which featured an entirely openly gay cast.
All of the actors who appeared in the 2018 revival of the play reprised their roles for a Netflix film adaption, which was produced by Ryan Murphy.
